Computers for Venezuelan Students

In one of the poorest slums in Caracas, Venezuela, Fe y Alegría runs an elementary school that provides high-quality education to underprivileged children. Currently the school's computer lab is using very outdated, used computers to teach the students computer literacy.

The school would like to purchase 30 computers, in used but good condition, to replace their outdated equipment and use in the computer classes given to every student. The computer teacher would also need to be trained in the new technology.

Bilingual Library in Rural Ecuador

A small indigenous community in a remote, underserved part of Ecuador has just one neighborhood school, operated by Fe y Alegría. The school is fully bilingual, teaching classes in the native Quechua as well as in Spanish. The school has few books, most only in Spanish and all very old.

They would like to build and stock a school library, with books in both Spanish and Quechua, to serve all of the students and improve bilingual literacy as well as the quality of the curriculum.

Scholarships for Ecuadorian Orphans

Fe y Alegría runs an elementary and middle school for needy students in one of the poorest neighborhoods in Quito, Ecuador. Approximately 20 students have lost both of their parents, are raised by siblings or young relatives, and depend on money sent by brothers or sisters who have gone off to work at a young age.

To help pay for tuition, books, food, and other school-related expenses, the school would like to create a scholarship fund specifically for the orphaned children. The fund would cover all of their educational costs and would also provide daily living assistance to ensure the children are well-fed, housed, and receive minimal medical care.

Distance Learning for Pregnant Students

The school "Profesor Camila Henriquez Ureña" is located in a disadvantaged, working-class neighborhood of Santo Domingo, where teenage pregnancy is all too common. Girls who become pregnant are forced to drop out of school and, falling behind in their studies, rarely return.

The school would like to implement a distance learning program using the radio to help the young mothers continue their studies even while at home.

Teacher Training for Vocational School in Caracas

This vocational school in Caracas helps students finish their high school studies and graduate, while specializing in technical skills that will help them find jobs right away.

The school would like to improve the quality of teaching at the school and ensure that teachers are communicating effectively with students.

School Lunches for Upper School in Caracas Slum

This upper school in Caracas ensures a high-quality, free, and reliable education for students who come from one of the most disadvantaged areas in the city.

The school would like to make sure all students are well-fed even if they do not have money, needs assistance providing hot lunches everyday.
