ON DECEMBER 1ST, FRIENDS OF FE Y ALEGRÍA IN THE U.S. IS EXCITED TO PARTICIPATE FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THE ANNUAL #GIVINGTUESDAY CAMPAIGN.
What is #GivingTuesday?
#GivingTuesday is a global movement seeking to promote and multiply good actions among people and causes. The goal is to dedicate a day in which everyone celebrates the action of giving, whether its money, time (volunteering), second hand items, food, etc. Using the hashtag #GivingTuesday as an instrument to disseminate this idea in social networks, the campaign aims to raise awareness among citizens, families, organizations and enterprises to contribute in the world donation day that is celebrated every first Tuesday of December.
Created by the 92nd Street Y in New York as a counterpart to Black Friday and Cyber Monday, two days promoting Christmas shopping, #GivingTuesday began in 2012 in the USA and spurred thousands of organizations and people to collaborate in solidarity actions. Each year the campaign has grown and last year more than 35,000 organizations from 68 countries participated.
As you know, Fe y Alegría works to provide education, teacher training and vocational training in 20 countries throughout Latin America, Europe and Africa, reaching communities with the greatest needs. With your support, we can do much more to multiply opportunities and transform realities of inequalities and exclusion for these communities.
We invite you to help us share Fe y Alegría on social media this #GivingTuesday and to visit our projects section to learn more on how you can support Fe y Alegría from the United States!
