On April 13th, during the XXXIII International General Assembly of Fe y Alegría in Ilhéus, Bahia, Brazil, the admission of Fe y Alegría Democratic Republic of Congo (Foi et Joie RD Congo, in French) as the newest member of the International Federation of Fe y Alegría (FIFyA) was the landmark of the event.

Joining Foi et Joie Tchad (2007) and Fe y Alegría Madagascar (2013), Congo is the third African nation where Fe y Alegría is present working towards integral, inclusive and quality popular education in the continent.

FIFyA is also in discussions to begin implementing education programs in countries such as Cuba, Togo, Guinea, Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Cambodia.

With the addition of the Democratic Republic of Congo to the International Federation of Fe y Alegría, there are now 22 countries where Fe y Alegría puts into practice its predilection for the poorest through a comprehensive popular education and social promotion that stimulates the acquisition of knowledge, skills, abilities, and values.

From Friends of Fe y Alegría in the United States we are thrilled to welcome Foi et Joie RD Congo to the family! #YaSomos22
