MIGRATION

Dignity, justice and human rights have no nationality nor creed.

Migration: A Human Right We All Share

We believe that each person has a human right to migrate. Alongside partners such as Jesuit Migrant Network-LAC, we are committed to promoting access to services that protect and accompany migrants on their journey, regardless of their immigration status, with a particular focus on those who are most at risk of human rights violations.

What does right to migrant mean?

According to the United Nations, “refugees and migrants are entitled to the same universal human rights and fundamental freedoms, which must be respected, protected and fulfilled at all times.” However, many times undocumented migrants are disproportionately vulnerable to discrimination, exploitation and marginalization, and denied their human rights and fundamental freedoms.

What are we doing about it?

Magis Americas has partnered with Jesuit Migrant Network – LAC since 2016, working together to highlight the needs of migrants across the Americas. Whether it be through collaboration with the greater network or support for specific projects in countries such as Brazil, Venezuela and Colombia, we are committed to accompanying migrants and working to ensure they are received with hospitality.
